Join the guild in representing community arts education at two national arts conventions this june:

national performing arts convention (Npac) in Denver

Join us at the National Performing Arts Convention, June 10-14, 2008 in Denver, CO.  As a National Partner, Guild has come together with more than a dozen performing arts service organizations, including League of American Orchestras, Americans for the Arts, Chorus America, Dance/USA, Opera America and Theatre Communications Group among others, to develop the convention.

Sessions of special interest to community arts education providers include: Assessment and Evaluation in Arts Education, Effective Partnerships and Collaboration within Arts Education Ecosystems, Creative Aging/Life-Long Learning in the Arts, and Nurturing Teaching Artists. americans for the Arts convention in Philadelphia

The Guild will be particpating in the Americans for the Arts Convention in Philadelphia, June 20-22, 2008, to advocate for community arts education and raise awareness of the work being done by our members throughout the United States. For more information, click here.

 

Arts & Aging Toolkit Online

The Guild's latest publication, Creativity Matters: The Arts and Aging Toolkit, is now available online, free-of-charge, at www.artsandaging.org. The Toolkit describes best practices and demonstrates exemplary models for participatory arts educaiton programs for older adults.

 

MetLife Partners in Arts Education Program

grant application Due May 23, 2008!

The National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts and the MetLife Foundation announce the renewal of the MetLife Foundation Partners in Arts Education Program. The goal of the program is to enhance arts learning in K­-12 Public Schools by supporting exemplary Community School of the Arts/Public School partnerships that serve large numbers of public school students during the school day and that:

More than 7,500 public school students in eight cities are currently receiving year-round arts instruction thanks to twelve 2007-2008 community school/public school partnerships funded by the MetLife Foundation Partners in Arts Education Program.
