Tips on Selecting Photos

While there's no doubting that professional photographers are a worthy investment, we know that adding that expense may not be an option for your organization. So we want draw your attention to the abundance of online tutorials that will help you capture and convey what is special about your programs.

  1. Follow the rule of thirds. Consider the composition within your frame, looking for pleasing patterns that will result in a better final image.
  2. Pay attention to the lighting. Too often, a great moment is lost when the lighting is poor. Just a little attention paid to the light settings can make a big difference between a winning photo and a missed opportunity.
  3. Get into the action! Too much distance takes you out of the shot and results in a diffused area of focus and often, poor composition. This goes for any subject matter. So don't be bashful ---move up close to the action or zoom in closer with your lens!
