Job Description

With an annual operating budget of $1.4 million and more than 400 member organizations nationwide, the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts is seeking a Program Associate with 3–5 years of experience to coordinate our national conference, regional trainings & events, publication development, information services, and re-granting programs.

The National Guild advances high-quality, community arts education so that all people may participate in the arts according to their interests and abilities. We support the creation and development of community arts education organizations by providing research services and information resources, professional development and networking opportunities, grant making, advocacy, and high-profile leadership.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Director, the program associate contributes to the development, implementation, management and evaluation of Guild programs and services including conferences, training programs, research projects, grant making programs and information services. S/he:

  • Coordinates the production of the annual national conference, The Conference for Community Arts Education
  • Coordinates grant programs including Partners in Arts Education, Creative Aging and Chapter Project Grants
  • Updates information on www.nationalguild.org and www.communityartsed.org
  • Supports activities of the Guild’s 11 regional chapters
  • Coordinates the Peer Advisory Service, a mentoring program
  • Collects and collates information, templates and sample documents for the Online Resource Center
  • Facilitates communications between “interest networks” within the Guild’s membership such as the Development Directors Network and Visual Arts Roundtable
  • Assists with the production of publications such as the Annual Membership Directory and the Biennial Field Survey Report
  • Coordinates the production of membership surveys
  • Responds to members’ requests for information
  • Contributes to the development of Guild websites and online services
  • Provides administrative support to the Associate Director as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of three years’ program management experience, ideally in conference and publication production
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, organizational skills, and the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Proven abilities in analytical, database and reporting skills
  • Excellent judgment; ability to be diplomatic and respect confidentiality
  • Ability to relate to diverse audiences
  • Self-motivation and the ability to be a good team player
  • Experience at a regional or national service organization a plus
  • Familiarity with arts education and nonprofit management issues a plus
  • Advanced computer and office skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) a plus.

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience; includes paid health and vacation benefits.
