With an annual operating budget of $1.4 million, the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts is seeking an experienced development professional to work 3/5 time to increase contributed revenue from individual, foundation and corporate sources.
The National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts is America’s service association for community arts education organizations that provide access to high quality sequential instruction so that all people may participate in the arts according to their interests and abilities. In concert with this dynamic network, the Guild researches and promotes best practices, provides opportunities for professional development and dialogue, advocates for broad access, and makes grants to the field.
The Guild's 370+ member institutions range from community schools of the arts to arts centers, to community divisions of universities, museums, government agencies, performing arts companies, and others. All are dedicated to making arts education accessible to people of all ages, aptitudes and backgrounds within their communities.
• Research funding opportunities and information to support proposals
• Participate in meetings with funders and prospects
• Write and edit proposals for submission to corporate/foundation funders and individual major donors
• Acknowledge and track grants and corporate sponsorships
• Ensure donor/sponsor benefits are delivered in a timely manner
• Prepare and submit grant and sponsorship reports
• At least five years professional fundraising experience
• Track record of securing major gifts and grants from institutional and individual donors
• Familiarity and/or experience in raising funds for arts and arts education
• Knowledge of New York City and national philanthropic arenas
• Superior written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Salary commensurate with experience; includes partial benefits
