


* There are thousands of community arts education providers nationwide.
* 370 of these providers operating in 380 communities in 45 states are currently members of the Guild.
*Over two-thirds of Guild members were founded in the last 25 years. Half of those were started after 1990.
* The oldest member school was founded in 1894; the youngest is a few years old.
* Annual budgets of Guild schools range from $25,000 to $8,500,000.
* The combined budget of member schools is almost $2 million per year.
* Nearly 600,000 students participate in regular weekly instruction.
* Enrollment at these schools range from less than 100 to more than 7,000.
* Students range in age from infants to senior citizens. Latest figures show that 11% are under 5 years of age, 68% are school-age, 17% are adults, and 4% are seniors.
* Along ethnic/racial lines, aggregate figures for students show that 56% are white and 44% non-white. However, the ethnic and economic profile for each school varies considerably, depending on the community it serves.
* Nearly 1,500,000 attend more than 2,500 school-sponsored performances, exhibitions and lectures each year.
* Dozens of schools offer multi-disciplinary and multicultural programs.
* More than 70% of Guild members have ongoing partnerships with public schools. 84% offer early childhood education programs. 50% provide programming for people with special needs and 40% offer programs designed for older adults.
* More than 15,000 professional artists are employed as teachers at these schools.
* More than 50% of Guild schools offer multi-disciplinary instruction. Arts disciplines currently offered by these schools are: Music - 79%; Dance - 27%; Theatre/Drama - 26%; Visual Arts and Crafts - 27%; Other (including Language/Literary Arts) - 3%.
