Interest Groups

Our new Interest Groups invite members to convene around interest areas to explore shared issues. The first interest group, Collegiate Divisional Schools, has launched a research and documentation project aimed at capturing some of the valuable information discussed at the annual Conference for Community Arts Education.

Over time, more groups will be added based on need and motivation. If you are interested in forming a new group, contact Ken Cole or call (212) 268-3337 ext. 18.

Research and Documentation Project

Divisional schools, from relatively new ones to those dating back to the 19th century, have a special relationship and history with their parent institution. While each relationship is unique, divisional schools do have shared issues. Following a project outline that emerged from a 2010 survey and roundtable discussion, this multiyear project will develop ongoing documention of the benefits we reap, the challenges we face, tried solutions and possible suggestions for five topics:

  • Finance
  • Leadership
  • Faculty
  • Academic
  • Community connections

Each year at the national conference, we will address one topic, and information from that roundtable will be added to the ongoing document. Throughout the year, additional information may be collected through phone conferences and the National Guild's Member Forum. This multi-year approach will give divisional school members a comprehensive document that can serve as a tremendous resource for all.

Our goal is to share and learn from each other so that all of our institutions are the finest examples of what the Guild expects and represents.
