On Thursday, February 9, 2012, Young Audiences of Louisiana was presented with the prestigious Arts Education Award at the 18th annual Big Easy Entertainment Awards' Tribute to the Classical Arts luncheon. In addition, students from Young Audiences' after school program at Woodmere Elementary were nominated for Best Ethnic Dance Presentation for their original piece "Something Sweet" performed at D'Project Inc.'s Souther Voices: Dance Out Loud 4 at the Contemporary Arts Center. The luncheon featured a special performance by the nominated students. According to Lauren LaBorde of Gambit, "The children of Young Audiences brought the audience to its feet with an exuberant performance of African song, dance and drumming..."
