Grant Troop will take the helm at Canada's National Ballet School (NBS) as Executive Director and Co-CEO. Troop comes to NBS after 19 years of service at the Ontario Science Centre. He holds an M.B.A. from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, along with degrees in Geology and Economic Geology.
To his new role at NBS, Troop brings proven executive leadership, senior management expertise and a broad knowledge of culture, museum and arts sectors in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario and beyond.
“I very much look forward to working with Grant,” said NBS artistic director and co-CEO
Mavis Staines. “His background with the Science Centre means Grant is familiar with both the cultural sector of this city and the educational sphere, and his past ideas and initiatives make me very excited to collaborate on steering Canada’s National Ballet School into the future."
Troop succeeds Jeff Melanson, NBS's former executive director and a Guild trustee. Melanson will begin his new job as president of The Banff Centre next month. Troop is scheduled to start his new position at the ballet school on Jan. 23.
