Nov 28, 2016

On Wednesday, November 30, from 1:30-3:30 PM, Mural Arts Philadelphia is holding the first ever Facebook live-stream from inside a U.S. State Prison. Part of a project entitled “Voices from Inside,” the event will focus on “hope, redemption and healing,” and feature readings from Dr. Baz Dreisinger and Shaka Senghor, a former convict, college lecturer, author, and director’s fellow of the MIT Media Lab.

You can access the live-stream on Shaka Senghor’s facebook page.

According to the Mural Arts website, the “Voices from Inside” project “provides a platform to reflect on and engage in dialogue about the practices and policies surrounding mass incarceration, and its impact on individual lives and entire communities.” The seven month project will include events and lectures, and will culminate in a public mural calling attention to inequities in the criminal justice system.
