Merit School of Music Uses Skype to Share Artistic Expertise

« Back

Apr 04, 2012
Chicago, IL

Merit School of Music has been using Skype to engage teen vocal students in mentoring sessions with world-renowned opera singer, Rennee Fleming, who is also providing in-person master classes. The full program was featured in The Huffington Post earlier this month.

Skype is a internet service and software application that allows users to communicate with others by voice, video and instant messaging. The growing popularity of providing music lessons on the internet was recently the topic of a The New York Times article, "With Enough Bandwidth, Many Join the Band."

As music lessons on webcams grow in popularity, what are the implications for community music schools? Share your thoughts on the Guild's Member Forum
