Afa and Aaron Dworkin—executive director and founder of Sphinx Organization, respectively—will receive the Kennedy Center Human Spirit Award during the organizations Spring Gala on May 8, 2017. The award, now in its second year, commemorates the seminal contributions made by President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy to cultural life in the United States.

Honored with the Citizen Artist Award—which recognizes leaders who present and produce the arts in their communities, and deepen the effect of the arts and arts education in a demonstrated, transformational way at the local, state, or national level—Afa and Aaron Dworkin will receive their award alongside Joan and Sanford Weill.

Performers during the evening include Corinne Bailey Rae, Judy Collins, and Shawn Colvin.
