Ross Receives Arts Council’s Lifetime Achievement Award

This December, Carol Ross, chair of the National Guild’s board of trustees, was recognized with the C. Newton Schenck Award for Lifetime Achievement in and Contribution to the Arts by The Arts Council of Greater New Haven (New Haven, CT). The Arts Council of Greater New Haven’s 2012 Arts Awards go to those individuals who go Against the Grain, the theme of the awards and the C. Newton Schenck III Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ross, through her dedication as a teacher, arts activist, and philanthropist, has given of her considerable talent to many organizations. She has served on the board of the National Guild since 2004 and is a member of the Greater New Haven Arts Stabilization Board. She is a past president of the board of the Neighborhood Music School and has served on the boards of the New Haven Museum, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and others. Ross was cited for reinforcing “our common belief that the arts represent who we are, not just what we enjoy. Carol is lauded for shepherding us toward a culturally rich and vibrant future.”
