The National Guild is thrilled to announce the official launch of the ALAANA (African, Latino/a, Asian, Arab, and Native American) Network!

The ALAANA Network, led by Guild Ambassadors Lara Davis and Rodney Camarce, is designed to raise the profile of work being led by people of color (POC) in the arts, increase POC access to sustained resources, and invest in the growth and leadership of people of color in the community arts education field. The network will provide opportunities for relationship building; center the voices of people of color to name what is and isn’t working for them in the field; articulate ways for holding arts and cultural organizations accountable; and share information on professional learning opportunities for emerging and established arts administrators, facilitators, and teaching artists of color.

As Lara Davis noted in a 2015 GuildNotes article, People of Color in Arts Education Leadership, the network will help "people of color [come] together to discuss what's working in the field, where the structural barriers lie, and what we need to authentically build relationships and community with one another."

The ALAANA Network will hold regular networking and professional development events, both in-person and online. The inaugral event, Where We At: Real Talk with Arts Administrators of Color, will be held on April 12, 2016, 3:00 PM ET.
