The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has awarded the Guild a $55,000 Art Works grant in support of the 2013 Conference for Community Arts Education, 2013 Community Arts Education Leadership Institute, and dissemination of best practices information to the field. The NEA received 1,547 eligible applications under the Art Works category. Of those applications, 817 are recommended for grants. Acting NEA Chairman Shigekawa said, "The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support these exciting and diverse arts projects that will take place throughout the United States. Whether it is through a focus on education, engagement, or innovation, these projects all contribute to vibrant communities and memorable opportunities for the public to engage with the arts."
